TLDR The roadmap calls for better research and funding to improve PCOS diagnosis, treatment, and health outcomes.
The International PCOS guideline clinical research priority roadmap was developed through a collaborative process involving over 2,800 women, healthcare providers, and academic experts globally. It identifies over 150 research recommendations focused on improving diagnosis, understanding long-term metabolic implications, and addressing infertility in PCOS. Key themes include optimizing diagnosis accuracy, exploring effective lifestyle interventions, and enhancing fertility treatments. The roadmap emphasizes the need for high-quality, multisite studies that consider ethnic and age diversity, and it highlights the potential of precision medicine. It calls for increased research funding and the integration of large datasets to advance precision medicine, aiming to improve health outcomes for women with PCOS.
