TLDR Larger ovaries in women with PCOS may indicate higher insulin resistance.
This study involving 54 women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) found a significant positive correlation between increased ovarian volume and elevated insulin resistance, as measured by the HOMA 2 model. The research also identified a positive correlation between BMI and both fasting plasma insulin and insulin resistance. Additionally, a negative correlation was observed between ovarian volume and insulin sensitivity. These findings suggest that increased ovarian volume could serve as an indicator of heightened insulin resistance in women with PCOS.
