TLDR Depression severity is not linked to PCOS markers like BMI, insulin resistance, or testosterone levels.
The study, involving 62 women with PCOS and 61 non-PCOS women, found a high prevalence of depression in both groups but no significant difference in depression severity between them. It also reported no significant correlation between depression severity and clinico-biochemical markers such as BMI, HOMA-IR, or testosterone levels in either group. Despite the high prevalence of depression among the participants, the study concluded that clinico-biochemical markers of PCOS are not associated with the severity of depression. The authors noted limitations such as the study's cross-sectional design, small sample size, and the use of BDI-FS for depression assessment, recommending larger future studies for more conclusive evidence.
