TLDR PCOS may start with high insulin levels, and certain biomarkers can help understand its causes, especially in teens.
This study investigates the clinical biomarker profiles of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in adolescents and middle-aged women, involving 200 participants divided into groups based on age and menstrual regularity. The research identifies significant differences in SHBG, AMH, and insulin levels among the groups, with compensatory hyperinsulinemia potentially initiating PCOS pathogenesis. The findings suggest that these biomarkers could help elucidate the etiology of PCOS, particularly in adolescents, and highlight the complex interplay of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors in the condition.
