Influence of Oral Minoxidil 1 Mg and 2.5 Mg on the Growth Speed of Hair and Nails

The study investigated the effects of oral minoxidil on hair and nail growth in 10 healthy men aged 21 to 46. Results showed that minoxidil 2.5 mg significantly increased nail growth speed by 50.7%, while minoxidil 1 mg did not have a significant effect. Both dosages increased hair growth speed, with 1 mg and 2.5 mg resulting in 16.5% and 35.9% increases, respectively. An increase in heart rate was observed with both dosages, but no significant changes in blood pressure or adverse effects were reported. The study concludes that oral minoxidil is well-tolerated and effective in enhancing hair and nail growth, suggesting its potential as an adjunct treatment for conditions like onychomycosis and post-chemotherapy alopecia.
