Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
The study investigates an ethnomedicinal hair growth formula (RENTT) from East Nusa Tenggara, consisting of Kemiri, Kembang sepatu, Beringin, Mangkokan, and Waru, using virgin coconut oil as a solvent. The optimal combination, determined through the Orthogonal Stimulus Response Method, includes Beringin (5 mg), Mangkokan (5 mg), Kembang sepatu (5 mg), Waru (10 mg), and Kemiri (0.75 mL), with an IC50 of 27.46 ppm, indicating very strong efficacy. Histomorphometric analysis showed that RENTT significantly increased hair density (49.45 ± 4.70) compared to controls. Statistical tests confirmed significant differences, highlighting RENTT's strong antioxidant activity and its potential as a natural hair-growth cosmeceutical.
