TLDR A balanced diet and healthy lifestyle help manage PCOS symptoms.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affects 15%-18% of women of reproductive age and is linked to various metabolic complications. Lifestyle changes, including regular physical activity and healthy dietary patterns, are the first-line treatment for managing PCOS. Low glycemic index (LGI) diets are effective in reducing insulin resistance and improving metabolic markers without affecting weight. The ketogenic diet can improve menstrual cycles and liver function. Supplementation with vitamins B3, D, CoQ10, inositols, berberine, chromium, zinc, selenium, and omega-3 fatty acids can address deficiencies and improve symptoms. Herbal treatments, such as green tea and licorice, may complement dietary interventions. A balanced diet and healthy lifestyle are crucial for managing PCOS.
