TLDR Noni fruit extract speeds up hair growth in rabbits.
This study aimed to determine if the ethanolic extract of Morinda citrifolia (noni fruit) could enhance hair growth in male rabbits. The extract, containing alkaloids, saponins, and flavonoids, was prepared using a soxhlet extraction method with 96% ethanol. The experiment involved applying different treatments to shaved 2 cm square areas on the rabbits' backs: 96% ethanol as a negative control, 12.5% and 25% Morinda extract, and kina hair tonic as a positive control. Hair growth was measured every 3 days over 18 days. The results, analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey tests, indicated that the Morinda extract significantly accelerated hair growth in rabbits.
