TLDR The hair tonic from Usada Bali plants increased hair growth without irritating the skin.
The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a hair tonic made from Usada Bali plants (Polycias scutellaria, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Trigonella foenum graecum, and Cananga odorata) on mice. The mice were divided into four groups: a negative control group given a carrier fluid, a positive control group given a commercial hair tonic, and two treatment groups given the Usada Bali hair tonic at concentrations of 10% and 20%. Hair length was measured on days 7 and 21, and an irritation test was conducted at 24 and 48 hours. The results showed that the hair tonic contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids, and did not cause skin irritation. The hair growth activity test showed that the herbal hair tonic significantly increased hair growth compared to the negative control and was not significantly different from the positive control. The study concluded that the hair tonic has the potential to be developed into a natural hair growth agent without causing skin irritation.
