TLDR Lime extract can be used to make a stable hair tonic with beneficial compounds.
The study investigated the creation of a hair tonic using Citrus aurantifolia (lime) extract and assessed its physical stability and phytochemical content. Three formulations with varying concentrations of lime extract (6.25% for F1, 8.25% for F2, and 10.25% for F3) were tested for organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, and viscosity before and after a cycling test of temperature fluctuations. The results showed that all formulations contained active compounds like flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and saponins, and maintained good physical stability within the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) criteria for hair tonics. The pH levels of the formulations were within the safe range for scalp skin, and viscosity remained consistent, indicating that lime fruit extract can be effectively used in hair tonic preparations with good stability.
