TLDR Botulinum Neurotoxin-A can treat acne, oily skin, rosacea, hair loss, prevent scars, relieve nerve pain, reduce excessive sweating, and manage psoriasis, but more trials are needed to confirm its effectiveness.
The document discusses the non-cosmetic dermatological uses of Botulinum Neurotoxin-A (BoNT-A), including treatment for acne, oily skin, rosacea, alopecia areata, androgenic alopecia, scar prevention, postherpetic neuralgia, hyperhidrosis, and disorders exacerbated by sweating. BoNT-A works by chemically denervating and relaxing skeletal muscle, inhibiting muscle stimulation for 3 to 6 months. Studies have shown BoNT-A to be effective in reducing sebum secretion and patient satisfaction in treating oily skin and acne vulgaris, and in preventing erythema and flushing in facial flushing and rosacea. In the context of alopecia, pilot studies have shown BoNT-A to be effective in increasing hair count and reducing hair loss by relaxing scalp muscles and improving scalp perfusion. However, further investigations are needed to establish its benefit. BoNT-A has also shown promise in managing psoriasis by reducing itch and pain. Despite the well-established long-term safety of BoNT-A, more structured large-scale trials are needed to establish its role in non-cosmetic dermatological conditions.

The post and conversation are about the role of the enzyme 3alpha-hydroxysteroid reductase in hair loss and the potential of compounds like procyanidin B2 and sulforaphane to boost its activity for hair regrowth. Further research is needed to develop effective treatments based on this theory.
