TLDR Nerve growth factor helps cashmere goat hair cells grow and is more active during the hair growth phase.
The study investigated the expression of nerve growth factor (NGF) and its receptor TrkA in the skin of Liaoning cashmere goats and their role in hair follicle cycling. The researchers found that both NGF and TrkA were persistently expressed in skin tissue, with significantly higher levels during the anagen (growth) phase compared to the catagen (regression) phase. High immunoreactivity of TrkA was observed in the outer root sheath (ORS), and NGF in both the internal root sheath (IRS) and ORS during anagen. Additionally, NGF was found to significantly promote the proliferation of isolated ORS cells at concentrations of 20 ng/mL or 100 ng/mL, but this effect was inhibited by K252a, a TrkA inhibitor. These results suggest that NGF may play a role in hair follicle growth and reconstruction via TrkA-dependent pathways.

The post and conversation are about the role of the enzyme 3alpha-hydroxysteroid reductase in hair loss and the potential of compounds like procyanidin B2 and sulforaphane to boost its activity for hair regrowth. Further research is needed to develop effective treatments based on this theory.

The post discusses the difference in effects of Minoxidil (Min) on scalp and facial hair. The user questions why Min-induced hair growth on the scalp is temporary, while facial hair growth seems permanent, even after stopping Min. They propose theories, including different Min mechanisms on body and facial hair, the role of DHT, and the possibility of not achieving fully terminal hair. The responses include personal experiences and theories about Min's effects on hair growth.

A hair loss treatment plan includes finasteride, dutasteride, RU58841, pyrilutamide, minoxidil, and microneedling to inhibit DHT and promote hair growth. It also recommends supplements like Reishi and Lion’s Mane mushrooms, and a shampoo with ketoconazole, caffeine, and melatonin.
