    The study by Yoo BY et al. explored the use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from human bone marrow and umbilical cord to generate dermal papilla-like structures for hair follicle regeneration. These structures, termed dermal papilla-like tissues (DPLTs), were shown to express specific markers and interact with keratinocytes to form hair bulb-like structures. When implanted into immunodeficient mice, DPLTs demonstrated the capacity to induce hair follicles, although they were not detectable at the induction sites after a prolonged period, likely due to apoptosis. The study provided supportive evidence for the potential of MSCs as an alternative source for hair inductive components in hair follicle regeneration, despite the challenges in maintaining DPLTs long-term.
