TLDR The combined treatment improved tendon healing strength over time.
This experimental study investigated the effects of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on tendon healing in 80 rats. The study divided the rats into eight groups, with different combinations of MSCs and PRP injected into the repaired Achilles tendons. The results showed that the combination of MSCs and PRP significantly increased tendon strength, as evidenced by a higher mean maximum breaking force at the end of the second month compared to the first month (p = 0.0008). Additionally, inflammatory cell density was highest in the combined treatment group. The study concluded that the combination therapy of MSCs and PRP could positively contribute to tendon healing post-surgery.
