TLDR No significant link was found between male pattern baldness and Pityrosporum fungi.
A study conducted in Iran 22 years ago investigated the potential link between male pattern baldness (MPB) and Pityrosporum group fungal contamination. The research involved 50 men with MPB to assess if there was a significant statistical correlation between the two conditions. The study aimed to explore whether external organisms, such as fungi, could be a contributing factor to MPB, alongside other theories like androgen action and increased sebaceous secretion.
