TLDR Understanding molecular mediators can improve skin healing treatments.
The narrative review examined the roles of molecular mediators in the phases of skin wound healing, focusing on inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. It highlighted key mediators such as PDGF, IL-1, TNF-α, KGF, TGF-β, VEGF, MMP-9, TIMP-1, IFN-γ, and NF-kB, which are crucial for processes like inflammation regulation, cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and extracellular matrix remodeling. The review emphasized that understanding these mediators could significantly impact wound therapy by promoting effective skin regeneration and preventing fibrosis. It concluded that this knowledge could lead to new therapeutic strategies for skin disorders.
