TLDR Tadalafil and Finasteride may help treat aggressive melanoma.
The study utilized logic-based modeling and drug repurposing to identify novel therapeutic targets and combination regimens against E2F1-driven melanoma progression. By integrating gene expression profiles and computational methods, the researchers identified AKT1 and MDM2 as key drivers of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in melanoma. Virtual screening of FDA-approved drugs identified Tadalafil and Finasteride as potent inhibitors of these proteins. Molecular dynamics simulations confirmed the stability of these drugs in complex with the protein targets, suggesting their potential for repurposing in melanoma treatment. Further laboratory and clinical studies are needed to validate these findings.
