TLDR Short-term use of topical minoxidil can cause eye issues, but stopping it can resolve the problem.
A case report describes a 34-year-old Hispanic male who developed central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) after using 5% topical minoxidil foam for hair loss for just 1 week. The patient experienced central visual loss and flashes in the left eye, with ophthalmic examination confirming CSCR. Upon discontinuing minoxidil and observing the condition, the CSCR resolved completely after 6 weeks. This case suggests that even short-term use of topical minoxidil can induce CSCR, which can be managed by stopping the medication and monitoring the patient.
