TLDR Minoxidil may cause vision problems.
This case report describes a 29-year-old male who developed acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) after using 5% topical minoxidil for androgenic alopecia. The patient experienced blurring of vision in the right eye, which was diagnosed as CSCR through fundus examination and optical coherence tomography. The condition persisted despite initial observation but resolved completely after discontinuing minoxidil and undergoing focal laser photocoagulation. This case highlights the potential ocular side effects of minoxidil, suggesting that dermatologists should be aware of these risks. Further studies are recommended to establish a definitive link between minoxidil use and CSCR.
