Mesotherapy in Androgenetic Alopecia: A Comprehensive Review of Active Ingredients, Protocols, and Clinical Efficacy
May 2025

TLDR Mesotherapy can improve hair growth in androgenetic alopecia but needs more research for standard use.
This comprehensive review examines the efficacy of mesotherapy as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), highlighting its use as a minimally invasive alternative or adjunctive therapy. The review analyzes studies from 2013 to 2024, focusing on mesotherapy's active ingredients, such as vitamins, amino acids, peptides, growth factors, and pharmaceuticals like finasteride or dutasteride. Results indicate positive outcomes, including increased hair density and reduced hair fall, especially when combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or laser therapy. However, the lack of standardized protocols and long-term safety data is a significant limitation. The review calls for standardization, more robust trials, and clearer regulatory guidelines to better define mesotherapy's role in clinical dermatology.
