Mesotherapy in Androgenetic Alopecia: A Comprehensive Review of Active Ingredients, Protocols, and Clinical Efficacy
May 2025
TLDR Mesotherapy can improve hair growth in androgenetic alopecia but needs more research for standard use.
This comprehensive review examines the efficacy of mesotherapy as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), highlighting its use of active ingredients like vitamins, amino acids, peptides, growth factors, and pharmaceuticals such as finasteride or dutasteride. The review analyzed studies from 2013 to 2024, finding that mesotherapy often results in increased hair density and reduced hair fall, especially when combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or laser therapy. However, the lack of standardized protocols and long-term safety data limits its clinical application. The review calls for more standardized protocols, robust comparative trials, and clearer regulatory guidelines to better define mesotherapy's role in treating AGA.
