TLDR Ivermectin effectively treats mange in rabbits.
A study involving 22 pet rabbits, aged 6-18 months, presented with symptoms of itching, alopecia, and inappetence, was conducted to diagnose and treat mange infestation. Clinical examination revealed pruritus, alopecia, hyperkeratosis, and crusting on various body parts. Skin scrapings identified Sarcoptes species in 20 cases and Demodex species in 2 cases. The treatment regimen included chlorpheniramine maleate, enrofloxacin, ascorbic acid, multivitamins, and ivermectin. The rabbits showed significant improvement, with gross lesions fading within 15 days and complete recovery in 45 days, demonstrating the effectiveness of ivermectin in treating mange in rabbits.
