TLDR Laser therapy may effectively treat persistent scalp inflammation.
Folliculitis decalvans (FD) is a rare inflammatory scalp disorder that often leads to scarring alopecia and is typically resistant to conventional antibiotic and immunomodulatory treatments. This document presented a case of persistent FD that achieved long-term remission following treatment with a long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser, suggesting that this laser therapy could be a promising alternative for managing recalcitrant FD.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
