TLDR Lavender oil promotes hair growth in mice.
The study investigated the effects of lavender oil (LO) on hair growth-related enzyme activity and cytokine expression in C57BL/6 mice. Mice were divided into five groups and treated topically with different solutions for 4 weeks. Results showed that γ-glutamyl transpeptidase activity increased by 11% and 15% in the 3% and 5% LO groups, respectively. Keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) mRNA expression increased by 10%, insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1 mRNA by 21% and 22%, hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) mRNA by 14% and 17%, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) mRNA by 22% in both LO groups. High correlation coefficients among hair growth factors were observed, confirming that LO promoted hair growth in the mice.
