TLDR Keratin-encapsulated liposomes effectively repair and protect UV-damaged hair.
The study explores the effectiveness of keratin-encapsulated cationic liposomes (KLs) in repairing and protecting hair from UV-induced damage. UV radiation can cause significant harm to hair, leading to dryness, brittleness, and color fading. KLs, developed through high-pressure homogenization, enhance keratin penetration and adherence to hair fibers, effectively restoring photo-damaged hair by reducing protein degradation and lipid peroxidation. The cationic nature of KLs allows for deeper penetration and longer-lasting effects compared to conventional treatments, making them a promising option for leave-on hair care products targeting photo-damaged hair.
