TLDR Kojyl cinnamate ester derivatives can promote hair growth by increasing adiponectin production in fat tissues.
The study from April 15, 2019, found that kojyl cinnamate ester derivatives (KCEDs), specifically KCED-1 and KCED-2, were effective in increasing adiponectin (APN) mRNA expression, APN protein secretion, and adipogenesis in human subcutaneous fat cells (hSCFs) more than Seletinoid G, a known APN inducer. Furthermore, when human dermal papilla cells were treated with the culture supernatant from KCED-treated hSCFs, there was an increase in mRNA expression of APN-induced hair growth factors such as insulin-like growth factor, hepatocyte growth factor, and vascular endothelial growth factor. The study concluded that KCED-1 and KCED-2 could promote hair growth by inducing endogenous APN production in subcutaneous fat tissues. The number of participants or samples used in the study was not mentioned.

Hair loss treatment should target dermal white adipose tissue (DWAT) to restore hair follicles. Potential remedies include tocopherol (vitamin E), botox, rosiglitazone, niacin, kojyl cinnamate esters, and ADP355.
