TLDR Linear Discoid Lupus Erythematosus of the scalp can cause hair loss and should be considered in similar cases.
This paper reported the first case of isolated linear Discoid Lupus Erythematosus (DLE) of the scalp, presenting in a 26-year-old Saudi male. The patient exhibited a unilateral linear pigmented plaque with atrophy and hair loss on the left temple, without systemic manifestations or involvement of other body sites. Diagnosis was confirmed through clinical examination, dermoscopy, and skin biopsy. Treatment with clobetasol solution and triamcinolone acetonide injections led to improvement and hair regrowth. The study emphasized that linear DLE of the scalp should be considered a differential diagnosis for linear scarring alopecia, recognizing it as a distinct morphological pattern of DLE.
