TLDR Living Skin Equivalent transplantation helps heal ischemic non-healing wounds.
The study aimed to evaluate the use of an ischemic non-healing wound model for preclinical studies of biomedical cell products (BCP) by transplanting a living skin equivalent (LSE). Conducted on 56 BALB/c mice, the study divided them into control, scaffold, and LSE groups. Using histological, immunohistochemical methods, and raster scanning optoacoustic mesoscopy (RSOM), the study assessed the effectiveness of LSE transplantation in wound regeneration. Results indicated that LSE transplantation positively influenced granulation tissue growth, reduced mechanical stress, and prevented cosmetic defects. A new smoothing coefficient was introduced to measure tissue remodeling, showing high values in the LSE group, suggesting the model's suitability for BCP preclinical studies.
