TLDR Six new hair loss factors in men not linked to female hair loss.
This study investigated whether six newly identified susceptibility loci for male androgenetic alopecia (AGA) also confer susceptibility to female pattern hair loss (FPHL). The study found no significant association between the six loci and FPHL susceptibility in a sample of 405 cases and 469 controls of German and UK descent. The study suggests that further research and independent replication of these findings should be performed in larger sets of FPHL samples.
