TLDR PRP treatment can safely boost hormone levels in some IVF patients with low ovarian reserve.
This clinical trial investigated the effects of intraovarian injection of activated autologous platelet rich plasma (PRP) on serum anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) levels in 182 poor-prognosis IVF patients with low ovarian reserve. The study found that 28% of patients experienced a significant increase in AMH levels, with a median increase of 167% within four weeks post-treatment. The improvement was observed across different age groups, and responders had a higher mean basal platelet count compared to non-responders. The trial concluded that the PRP treatment was safe and effective for some patients, suggesting the need for further research to optimize PRP protocols and better understand ovarian response.
