TLDR Dutasteride and finasteride affect different cell types differently.
The study found that the inhibitory effect of dutasteride or finasteride on androgen receptor (AR) activity is cell line specific, meaning that the drugs have different effects on different types of cells. The study also found that the AR genotype does not play a significant role in determining the AR antagonistic effect of either drug. The study suggests that further research is needed to understand the role of the direct inhibitory effect of dutasteride or finasteride in reducing prostate cancer.
