TLDR Low-speed protocols with certified centrifuges and FDA-approved glass tubes are best for effective PRF outcomes.
This study examined the impact of centrifugation devices and collection tubes on platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) characteristics and growth factor release using blood samples from six healthy female volunteers. It compared three centrifuges (IntraSpin, Duo, and LMC-3000) and three tube types (Pyrex, A-P, and silica-coated plastic) under high- and low-speed protocols. High-speed protocols produced larger clots, while low-speed protocols resulted in more biologically active matrices. The IntraSpin and Duo centrifuges were more effective in generating larger clots and higher growth factor release compared to the LMC-3000. Tube type did not significantly affect growth factor levels, although silica-coated tubes produced the largest clots, and Pyrex tubes showed superior growth factor release. The study concluded that PRF quality is influenced by centrifuge design, g-force, and tube material, recommending low-speed protocols with certified centrifuges and FDA-approved glass tubes for consistent and effective regenerative outcomes. Limitations include the small sample size, suggesting future studies should include more diverse cohorts.

community Difference between my hair wet and dry literally an hour apart

      in Finasteride/Dutasteride  757 upvotes 9 months ago
The conversation is about hair loss treatments, focusing on minoxidil and finasteride, with suggestions for microneedling and dermarolling to improve hair thickness. The original poster has used minoxidil for four years and finasteride for over a year but is exploring additional options for better results.

community Hairloss after doing PRF treatment

in Treatment  2 upvotes 2 years ago
The conversation is about the potential risk of permanent hair loss from PRP (platelet rich plasma) treatments and whether PRF (platelet rich fibrin) carries the same risk. The user is seeking information on this topic.

community Here is my hair regrowth plan

in Treatment  4 upvotes 5 years ago
The user's hair regrowth plan includes topical treatments (RU58841, azelaic acid, ketoconazole), oral supplements (Gia Herbs, castor oil), microneedling, PTD-DBM peptide with valproic acid, red light therapy, inversion table with scalp massage, and platelet-rich fibrin injections. Commenters suggest that finasteride and minoxidil are essential treatments for male pattern hair loss, which are missing from the plan.

community I have been on finasteride for 9 months. (6 months on 0.25 mg, 3 months into 0.5 mg daily) here are the progress pictures.

A user shared progress pictures after 9 months on finasteride, starting with 0.25 mg and increasing to 0.5 mg daily, noting improved hair density, especially at the crown, with initial side effects that resolved after the first month. The discussion includes user experiences with finasteride, concerns about side effects, and alternative treatments like rosemary oil and platelet-rich plasma therapy.
