TLDR Non-invasive imaging techniques improve scalp condition diagnosis and patient quality of life.
The article reviews various imaging techniques for diagnosing scalp dermatoses, emphasizing the need for non-invasive methods to improve diagnostic accuracy and reduce invasive procedures. Techniques like trichoscopy, optical coherence tomography, and phototrichogram are highlighted for their non-invasive nature and utility in conditions like alopecia. While trichoscopy is cost-effective and portable, its accuracy depends on interpretation. Optical coherence tomography is useful for early-stage cicatricial alopecias, and phototrichogram aids in monitoring androgenetic alopecia. Advanced imaging techniques, combined with AI-driven analysis, could enhance early detection and precision in diagnosing scalp conditions, ultimately benefiting patients' self-esteem and quality of life.
