TLDR The hydrogel speeds up skin wound healing effectively.
The study presents a multifunctional biological macromolecule hydrogel composed of recombinant type I collagen and chitosan, enhanced with copper ions and dopamine methacrylamide, designed to accelerate full-thickness skin wound healing. This hydrogel exhibits strong mechanical strength, self-healing, and antibacterial properties, effectively inhibiting the growth of S. aureus and E. coli. It promotes granulation tissue formation, collagen deposition, and vascularization, significantly reducing wound size and enhancing healing rates in vivo. The hydrogel's dual-network structure and continuous release of Cu2+ ions provide sustained antibacterial effects and support cell proliferation and migration, making it a promising material for clinical wound healing applications.
