TLDR High-intensity interval training improves certain hormone levels and lipid profiles in women with PCOS.
The study examined the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on adipokine levels in 20 women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), with 10 women in the HIIT group and 10 in the medium intensity continuous training (MICT) group over 12 weeks. The HIIT group showed an increase in adiponectin levels and a decrease in insulin, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and LDL-C levels, along with an increase in HDL-C levels. There were no significant changes in leptin and vaspin levels. The MICT group did not exhibit significant changes in these metabolic parameters. The study concluded that HIIT could be a beneficial exercise intervention for improving adiponectin levels and lipid profiles, potentially reducing cardiovascular risk in women with PCOS, while MICT did not show similar benefits.

A 30-year-old female with PCOS and male pattern baldness is frustrated with her endocrinologist's recommendation of only Spironolactone and minoxidil, feeling that dutasteride, finasteride, and progesterone would be more effective. Other users suggest various online sources for treatments, warn against self-medicating due to potential risks, and recommend seeking a specialized endocrinologist or considering additional treatments like Inositol, Berberine, and dermaneedling.
