TLDR Exercise, especially vigorous aerobic and resistance training, can improve hormone levels in women with PCOS.
This systematic review evaluated the impact of various exercise interventions on hormone levels in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). It found that vigorous aerobic exercise improved insulin sensitivity, while resistance training showed potential benefits for androgen levels, though more research was needed. Yoga also appeared promising for improving insulin sensitivity and androgen levels. The review highlighted the need for larger studies to confirm these findings and explore the effects of exercise on adipokines and anti-Müllerian hormone. Overall, exercise was shown to be a beneficial non-pharmacological intervention for managing PCOS symptoms, with the greatest impact observed in obese women.
