TLDR A hair serum made from coffee by-products can promote hair growth and is safe, but needs less stickiness.
The research focused on developing a hair serum from coffee by-products in northern Thailand, emphasizing caffeine and antioxidant content for hair growth and scalp care. Coffee bean extracts had the highest caffeine, while red coffee fruit extracts had the most antioxidants. Fall grade cherry coffee was the most cost-effective for both. A survey of 252 participants highlighted scalp irritation, safety, and product properties as key concerns. The prototype was tested for hair growth and skin irritation, with positive feedback from focus groups on sensory aspects, though viscosity and stickiness needed improvement. Marketing strategies were also evaluated.
