TLDR Dupilumab can help regrow hair and improve skin conditions in patients with severe atopic dermatitis and alopecia areata.
A 46-year-old woman with severe atopic dermatitis and alopecia areata universalis experienced significant hair regrowth on her scalp, face, and lower legs after starting dupilumab therapy. Dupilumab, which blocks the IL-4 receptor α-subunit and reduces Th2 immune response, also alleviated her severe eczema and itching within 14 days, improving her sleep and quality of life without significant side effects. This suggests that patients with severe atopic dermatitis and alopecia areata may benefit from dupilumab treatment.
