TLDR GLP-1 receptor analogs may help improve metabolism and reproductive health in people with PCOS and obesity.
The review article examines the effects of GLP-1 receptor analogs on metabolic and reproductive functions in patients with PCOS and obesity. It highlights that these analogs, commonly used for type 2 diabetes, show promise in improving insulin sensitivity, promoting weight loss, and enhancing reproductive outcomes such as menstrual regularity and fertility. Combination therapies with metformin often yield superior results compared to monotherapies, with significant improvements in ovulation rates and metabolic parameters. However, the exact mechanisms and long-term effects of GLP-1 receptor analogs on ovarian function require further investigation. Overall, these analogs appear to be a beneficial therapeutic option for managing PCOS and obesity-related challenges.
