TLDR Certain genetic variants may increase the risk of developing PCOS.
This case-control study investigated the genetic association between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and the metabolic variants APOA5 rs662799 and PLIN1 rs894160 in the Western Saudi population. The study identified novel alleles and genotypes that contribute to the genetic risk of PCOS in this population, providing new insights into the genetic factors influencing the development of PCOS. The findings suggest that these specific genetic variants may play a role in the susceptibility to PCOS, highlighting the importance of genetic screening in understanding and potentially managing the condition.
