TLDR Created tablet similar to Avodart using γ-cyclodextrin and solubilizers.
The study aimed to develop a film-coated dutasteride tablet that is bioequivalent to the soft gelatin capsule Avodart. The researchers used γ-cyclodextrin and solubilizers to optimize the solubility of dutasteride. The addition of solubilizing polymers and surfactants increased the solubility of dutasteride, which improved its bioavailability. The developed tablet was tested in rats and beagle dogs, and the pharmacokinetic parameters were found to be comparable to those of Avodart. The study suggests that the DuyCD-PS complex can be used to improve the solubility of poorly soluble drugs like dutasteride.
