Determination of Free Chemical Potential for Finasteride Diffusion Through SDS Micelle Suggested as Alternative Living Membrane System

Oraas Adnan Hatem, Ahmed Jassim Obaid
TLDR Finasteride diffuses spontaneously through SDS micelles, suggesting they can replace living cell membranes.
The study investigated the diffusion of Finasteride through a sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) micelle, proposed as an alternative to living cell membranes. Using spectroscopic methods, the diffusion was analyzed in both polar (buffer phosphate solution, pH 7.4) and non-polar (cyclohexane) environments. Results showed that Finasteride in the polar solution had a stable absorption peak at 253 nm, while the non-polar medium had a lower attenuation coefficient and shorter maximum wavelength. The chemical potential for Finasteride diffusion was determined to be -6294.76 J mol-1, indicating a spontaneous process, with a diffusion rate constant of 51.11 min-1 and an equilibrium constant of 11.5.

community Is it normal that fin tingles in the mouth?

in Finasteride  59 upvotes 2 weeks ago
A user experienced a tingling sensation in their mouth after taking a cut finasteride pill, possibly due to inactive ingredients like mannitol or sodium lauryl sulfate. Tingling is not a common side effect or typical allergy sign, but monitoring for unusual reactions is advised.

A 30-year-old man with diffuse hair thinning shared his hair regrowth regimen, which includes increasing Vitamin D intake, taking oral castor oil, using a dermapen, and various supplements like Glycine, K2, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Aspirin, Sodium Bicarbonate, and a multivitamin. He also mentioned inconsistent use of Minoxidil, Peppermint Oil, Zix, and topical Castor Oil, and negative side effects from Finasteride, RU58841, and Nizoral.
