TLDR Hyperandrogenism is a common hormonal disorder in women, often linked to PCOS.
The study "Profile of Female Hyperandrogenism at the Medical Clinic II: About 19 Cases" involved 19 women of childbearing age over 22 months, with an average age of 25.3 years. The most common symptoms were menstrual disorders (94.7%), hirsutism (78.9%), and pelvic pain (10.5%). All patients had hirsutism, with 52.6% having a non-pathological score. Polymicrocystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) was found in 68.4% of patients, making it the most common cause of hyperandrogenism. Other symptoms included acne (36.8%), hyperseborrhea (57.9%), and acanthosis nigricans (47.4%). The study concluded that hyperandrogenism is a common endocrine abnormality in women, with further large-scale studies needed to better understand its prevalence and characteristics.
