TLDR Betulin may help treat hair loss caused by testosterone.
The study evaluated the effect of betulin on hair growth in 48 albino wistar rats aged 12-16 months, with hair loss induced by a 0.5 mg/kg dose of testosterone. Over 28 days, the rats were treated with varying concentrations of betulin (10 mg/kg, 20 mg/kg, and 40 mg/kg) administered orally, a topical application of minoxidil solution, and a combination of betulin (10 mg/kg) and 3% minoxidil. The results showed that betulin decreased levels of cholesterol and testosterone, and increased hair length, suggesting its potential effectiveness in treating testosterone-induced alopecia.
