TLDR Mung bean seed coat extract can help hair growth and may be a natural alternative to minoxidil.
The study evaluated the effectiveness of mung bean seed coat extract (Vigna radiata L.) on hair growth in New Zealand White rabbits, using 3 rabbits divided into 8 treatment groups, including a neutral group, a positive control (2% minoxidil), a negative control (aquadest), and test groups with extract concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%. Over 14 days, hair length, weight, and growth area were measured. The 20% extract concentration showed optimal results with hair length of 1.42 cm, weight of 0.943 grams, and growth area of 3.41 cm², while the 2% minoxidil group had slightly better results. Statistical analysis confirmed significant differences between treatment groups (p = 0.001). The extract was effective in promoting hair growth and could be a natural alternative to minoxidil for hair loss therapy.
