Effectiveness of Cocoa Leaf Extract (Theobroma Cacao L.) as a Hair Growth Promoter in New Zealand White Rabbits

The study investigated the effectiveness of ethanol extract of cocoa leaves in hair tonic formulations for promoting hair growth in New Zealand White rabbits. The hair tonic with 15% cocoa leaf extract showed higher effectiveness in stimulating hair growth compared to 2% minoxidil, a positive control. Hair growth was measured by hair length over 3 weeks and hair weight in the 3rd week. Safety tests indicated no skin irritation, as no erythema or edema was observed. The results suggest that cocoa leaf extract can be formulated into a hair tonic that is both effective and safe for use on the skin.
