TLDR The cream made from cocoa pod peel can promote hair growth but may cause skin irritation.
The study investigated a hair growth cream formulated with the water fraction of cocoa pod peel. The cream was tested for various properties and its ability to stimulate hair growth. The cream had a beneficial pH range for haircare products (5.85-6.27), was of the oil-in-water type, and its viscosity decreased with increasing temperature. It remained stable under freeze-thaw conditions, with slight changes in pH and viscosity. The cream was tested on three male rabbits and showed hair growth stimulation, with the best results at a 12.5% concentration. However, some skin irritation was observed after six days of application. The study concluded that the cream could be used as a treatment for hair loss or alopecia.
