TLDR Rampai leaves extract can significantly stimulate hair growth.
The study investigated the hair growth stimulation effects of ethanol extract and its fractions from rampai leaves (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) on New Zealand White male rabbits over 21 days. The ethanol extract at a 10% concentration showed the most significant hair growth, followed by 20% and 5% concentrations. Among the fractions, the n-hexane fraction demonstrated superior hair growth activity compared to ethyl acetate, water fractions, and the positive control (2% minoxidil). The findings suggested that rampai leaves could be a potential anti-alopecia treatment, though further research is needed to identify the specific chemical compounds responsible for this effect.
