TLDR Mitrocarpus hirtus leaf extracts may help fight scalp ringworm.
This preliminary study investigates the antioxidant activities and inhibitory properties of Mitracarpus hirtus leaf extracts against Tinea capitis, a common fungal skin disorder in children. The study found that all extracts demonstrated moderate radical scavenging properties, with varying IC50 values for different solvents. Notably, the ethylacetate extract showed the highest inhibitory effect on the growth of Tinea capitis, suggesting the potential of M. hirtus as an antifungal agent. The study recommends further research to isolate the active compounds responsible for these effects.
