TLDR Calotropis procera leaf extracts have antifungal properties, especially against Microsporum canis.
The study investigated the antifungal activity of Calotropis procera leaf extracts against dermatophytes, revealing that the ethanolic extract was more effective than the aqueous extract. Phytochemical screening showed the presence of compounds like alkaloids, saponins, and flavonoids. Among the tested dermatophytes, Microsporum canis was the most sensitive to the extracts, with an average inhibition zone of 10.75 mm, followed by Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and Epidermophyton floccosum. The findings concluded that C. procera leaf extracts possess antifungal properties.
