TLDR Combining eflornithine cream with laser therapy effectively reduces unwanted facial hair in women.
The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of combining eflornithine cream with laser therapy for managing unwanted facial hair in women. Fifty-four women participated in the trial, where eflornithine was applied to one side of the face and a vehicle to the other, with laser treatments administered at specific intervals. Results indicated that from Weeks 6 to 22, the eflornithine-treated side showed a significant reduction in hair growth, although by Week 34, the differences were not significant. However, subjective assessments reported significant and persistent hair reduction on the eflornithine-treated side through Week 34. The combination therapy was found to be as safe as using eflornithine alone, and participants preferred the combined treatment approach.
